Many irons have a automatic shut off if the iron is not moved for a period of time. This feature varies from 30 seconds to 1 hour depending on the model of iron. Movement usually resets the iron to begin heating but some irons now have a reset button. Please read the owners manual to determine if the unit has an auto-off feature, length of time before the unit stops heating and how to re-activate the unit.

All of the newer irons have “auto off” when not in use for a period of time. This is NOT truly auto off. It is a “standby mode”. The only way to truly turn of the iron is to turn the switch to off or unplug the iron. The handle of the iron will remain warm since the iron is still drawing current and the electronics is still working (energized).Only the sole plate is cold. If the iron falls it will automatically turn on since it is only in the stand by mode. Therefore if a consumers calls to and states that the iron handle is warm or that a light is still...

Please note that the iron is still “ON” or in the standby mode until you actually turn it off and unplug the iron.

If the unit will not turn back on

You may have to move the iron or shake it gently to reactivate the thermostat.
