BL4000R - Chemical or Odor from Plastic Jar
Chemical or Foul Odor from Plastic Jar
Cause: The smell originates from the chill sleeve insulator material, which is non-toxic synthetic rubber. There is no danger to consumers, but the material does have a distinct smell after manufacturing. The smell soon wears off, but current packaging for the BL4000R is exacerbating this issue. The chill sleeve is placed inside of the blender jar, with the lid sealed, and the jar is further sealed in a plastic sleeve. In such a sealed environment the odor accumulates rather than dissipates. Packaging is being changed to remedy this issue. Until then, there will likely be complaints about a chemical or foul odor coming from the blender jar.
Response: We’re sorry to hear of the odor you noticed. The chill sleeve was sealed in the blender jar during packaging, where any residual manufacturing odors could not diminish. The odor will be eliminated soon after removing the chill sleeve.
