It is unnecessary to completely empty the steamer of water if storing for a few days. The steamer was designed in such a way that limits airborne mold spore access to the interior of the water tank, so when clean water is used mold is unlikely to grow inside the tank. If the steamer will be stored unused for an extended period, manually empty the water tank, then plug in and turn on the appliance, and steam the remaining water out. After emptying the tank, it should take only around 30 seconds to steam out the small amount of remaining water.
