Iron Temperature Settings
Each setting on the iron has a set temperature, which is a specific degree; and an acceptable range, which is the acceptable variation from the set temp. When the iron reaches the acceptable range it will indicate it is ready but will still continue adjusting the temperature until it reaches the set point. If the acceptable range did not exist the iron would indicate it is no longer ready whenever the temperature of the soleplate fluctuated a degree away from the set point, for example when using burst of steam.
This chart illustrates how the set point and acceptable range works. They are not evenly spaced because set points correspond to the optimal temperature to iron a specific fabric.
