Coffee Makers - How Coffee Makers Work
There are many parts that make up a coffee maker. In general all drip coffee makers consist of a:
- Water Reservoir
- Heating Element
- Tube leading from the reservoir to the heating element
- Tube leading up to the reservoir base, connecting the water to the drip area
- Shower Head/ Spreader
- Brew Basket
How it Works
- Cold water is poured into the reservoir and then flows through a hole located on the bottom of the water tank.
- The water then flows through a tube and then into an aluminum tube located in the heating element.
- When you turn on the switch the heating element starts to heat the tube and the water will start to boil.
- After the water starts to boil the bubbles rise up through the tube carrying the water with them.
- The water flows up the tube and is evenly dispersed through the shower head over the coffee grounds.
- The hot water flows over the grounds, through a tiny hole on the bottom of the brew, and into the carafe.
