Learning Objectives
After completing this training, you will be able to:
  • Understand how a bread maker works.
  • List the functions and features.
  • List and identify standard bread maker parts.
  • Give and understand troubleshooting

Important Tips
  • If the consumer is using for the first time, the bread maker should be run through a cycle (empty) to burn off any manufacturing oils.
  • Gluten Free Recipes - Some units have a gluten free setting. If the unit does not have a gluten free setting the consumer can use the rapid/fast setting.
  • If the unit does not start - make sure the bread maker is counting down, the paddles are in place, and check the setting to see if there is a time delay.
  • Make small indentation on top of dry ingredients before adding the yeast(not so deep it reaches the wet layer). the indentation for the yeast is important, especially when using the delay bake timer. It keeps yeast away from the wet ingredients until the kneading process begins. (Liquid ingredients will prematurely activate the yeast).

Following the Recipe

A traditional bread recipe may not come out correctly in a bread maker. If the consumer is using a recipe designed for a bread maker it is important to add the ingredients in the order they are listed. In general, the consumer would add the liquid ingredients first, then the dry and always the yeast last.
